Project Orangebox

Guest Author

There has been a lot of hype around Sun in recent days about Project Blackbox, and justifiably so.
After all, it's a revolutionary new datacenter concept, and breaks new ground in energy, space, and performance efficiencies.
However, not content to rest on our laurels, the Sun Cluster team has decided to go one better and we have designed an improved even more revolutionary datacenter concept...

Presenting Project Orangebox!

Compared to Blackbox, Orangebox is:

  • lower power
  • smaller form factor
  • less expensive
  • more thermally efficient
  • more environmentally friendly (full biodegradable)
  • organic
  • simple architecture

We have "test marketed" this product and it universally resulted in smiles
on the faces of customers.

Really good - SUN on their first steps to Bionic?

btw, the orangebox has a wireless connection you failed to mention: it can transmit light across the room: bit 1 (light is on), bit 0 (light is off). So you don't even need cable to connect it to the outside world.

You're totally underplaying the sustainable eco-potential here. The entire unit is field-replaceable and can be turned into garden mulch to grow the next gen. orange box (just needs water and sunlight).

This looks like it's catching on fast - I saw an entire orange box farm at the weekend - huge scale - kids loved it.

Must have been created by software engineers as it seems to have some hardware issues. Your design has a receptacle instead of plug. Does it generates electricity?

If you need a hardware engineer, call me I would love to work on your project!

How many software engineers does it take to change a lightbulb?
    None, that's a hardware problem.
