Ian mentions some interesting recent activities in Linux software management:
- RPM becoming an independent project
- The LSB tackling application packaging issues
The latter isn't a problem specific to Linux, though, as multiple platform support usually doesn't just stop at the top few Linux distributions, since Solaris or MacOS are just as interesting to many of those ISV's. Fundamentally, we all have the same problems in some form or another. I look forward to part 2...
