Welcome to the Oracle Social Marketing Blog!

Welcome to the Oracle Inside Social Marketing Blog!  Here, we hope to provide you with a glimpse at how enterprise organizations like Oracle are successfully using Social Media in their marketing efforts.  With a team composed of Ken Pulverman, Tony Ouk, Aarti Bhatnagar, and Nandini Dasarathy, we hope to offer you a view of Social Media as seen across three generations.

Ken Pulverman successfully led the Oracle Customer Relationship Management Team to implement a Social Media program.  This team can now boast an average of over 6,000 page views each month for their blog, over 1,100 fans on Facebook, and over 3,300 followers on Twitter.  He is now taking this experience to launch a Social Media program for two additional teams - Oracle Master Data Management and Oracle Product Lifecycle Management.

Tony Ouk successfully initiated the Social Media program for Oracle Financials.  He is now working with Ken Pulverman to lead the Social Media efforts across all Oracle Applications product lines.  In particular, he has developed a set of metrics and measurement that show direct ROI in each team's marketing efforts for their blog page, Facebook fan page, and Twitter account.  These metrics offer a key insight into not only how successfully each of these channels are performing individually, but also how successfully each of these channels are performing together.

Aarti Bhatnagar is currently a fourth year student at the University of California, Berkeley majoring in Economics and minoring in Global Poverty and Practice, and this summer is a product marketing intern at Oracle. As a college student, she spends several hours of my days on Social Media sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn connecting with my friends and professional peers, reading interesting blogs entries, watching videos of my favorite artists on YouTube, and searching for events that are hosted around my college campus. These sites not only allow her to network with peers and friends, but also to keep up-to-date with relevant information about the news, new technologies and the media. Through her experiences, Aarti can confidently say that these sites are revolutionizing the way individuals and businesses connect, network, and advertise to the general population.

Nandini Dasarathy is a senior at Cornell University majoring in Economics and minoring in Information Science and this summer is also a product marketing intern at Oracle. She constantly tracks developments in the tech world, follows several notable blogs, and spends exorbitant amounts of time on Facebook and YouTube. Aside from participating in discussions, leaving comments, and posting updates to her personal blog and others' pages, she enjoys observing the interactions people have with one another on the blogsphere, and feels that there is so much knowledge to be gained from these interactions. Not only do they entertain, but they teach, they spread ideas, and they gather together people and organizations connected by one or many threads that otherwise would not be able to interact.

We'd like to kick off our blog with a three part series on using Facebook and Twitter in your marketing efforts, so check back shortly for the first part of that series.
