SOA Suite 12c monitoring with EM 12c Cloud Control by Michel Schildmeijer

clip_image002Good monitoring is knowing how your systems and application are doing at past, present and future time. There are many  monitoring tools & solutions at the market, all with pro’s and cons. Building monitoring takes time and effort but in the end gives you the benefit of less disturbance and more guarantee of business continuity.

At the customers I work for, I often implemented Oracle’s Enterprise manager 12c Cloud Control to build a monitoring framework. In this blog I will tell about what needs to be done to build such a framework.

Pre Requirements

Before start building a solution, make sure you have:

  • The proper monitoring pack licenses; for SOA Suite that will be:
    • The WebLogic Diagnostics & Monitoring Pack
    • The SOA Suite Diagnostics & Montitoring Pack
  • Agents installed on every physical (or virtual ) host where WebLogic / SOA is running

Building Steps

Deploying Agents to Targets

If not already done so, agents need to be deployed to the hostst were middleware is running. I will not discuss this any further because this is more Enterprise Manager generic.

Discover Middleware Targets

Discovering Middleware Targets is just as it is as with other Targets. Read the complete article here.

Oracle introduces API Manager! By Maarten Smeets

clip_image001Oracle has introduced a new product; API Manager (you can find the official documentation here). API Manager is an important addition to the already impressive Oracle SOA stack. In this article I’ll explain what this new product does and how it helps in managing your API’s. I will focus on the features and benefits you can have of this product and also elaborate a little about my current experiences with it.

API Manager

What does API Manager do?

API Manager is a product which extends the Service Bus functionality and provides an API Manager Portal to manage API’s and browse analytics. API Manager allows you to save certain metadata as part of a Service Bus proxy service. This metadata is used to allow access to an API and provide data on their usage. SOAP and REST API’s are supported (HTTP API’s). Read the complete article here.

API Management – An Overview of API Catalog and API Manager at Fusion Middleware Partner Community Forum 2015

The Fusion Middleware Partner Community Forum takes place March 3rd & 4th in Budapest Hungary. During this annual conference You as an Oracle Partner can get the latest updates on the Fusion Middleware 12c solutions. “The Cloud Platform for Digital Business” will be the theme of the 20th conference. Keynotes will be delivered from Amit Zavery, Andrew Sutherland and SOA, BPM and Mobile product management including live demos. On the second day you can choose between three tracks: SOA, BPM or WebLogic and Mobile. As part of the SOA track Robert and Yogesh will present:

Oracle API Management – An Overview of API Catalog and API Manager incl. a demo

Mobile applications increasingly use Application Programming interfaces (APIs) in addition to enterprise systems of record in their development. The importance of an API economy is growing by the day. As the number of APIs produced and consumed by enterprises increases, thanks to an exponential growth of mobiles, tablets, smart devices and computing platforms, the management and visibility of these APIs becomes increasingly important.

Oracle API Catalog (OAC) and the upcoming Oracle API Manager allow organizations to easily manage their APIs and build a catalog of their APIs, powered by the industry leading Oracle Service Bus backbone (in case of API Manager), thus providing visibility and control to the enterprise and a social catalog to API consumers for application development. Come and find out more on this session, incl. the exciting demo.
