quake3 demo screenshots on solaris x86/sparc

Even more progress from the ioq3 folks. The demos now run under both sparc and x86. Screenshot sparc here thanks to Vincent and heres the x86 one:

Onwards to get the game and mouse going. The screenshot above was using Mesa OpenGL by the way :)

Comments:

Hi, any ideas what box Vincent had? Because I have got a sb1500 and time to kill :). Has vincent got a list of things to get it working on sparc?

All thats needed on Solaris sparc to get things compiled and ready is having gnumake, gcc (bundled with SolarisExpress) and libSDL (for audio and input). Everything else should already be on your sparc box, i.e. OpenGL. Then its really just a matter of typing gmake.

Yo C.J. You'll have to go to icculus quake3, get the source and compile it up. Shouldn't be any trouble.

Hello everyone, (Just found this blog). Here's the Hardware that I'm running ioq3 on: - sb150, XVR-600, Solaris 10U1. Works acceptably but the sky is all wrong (it has the painful problem that the walls 'drip' on the sky and create artifacts). I suspect a problem with the XVR-600 driver since I can reproduce the bug by running the original quake3 on Linux with the display exported to my sb150. - sb2000, 2\*900Mhz US-IIICu with XVR-1000 graphics. No artifacts here but no tremendous performance either (has to run with OpenGL extensions disabled). The dedicated server works very fine and I cannot get it to use more than 80% cpu on my sb150, even with 16 bots on a small q3dm\* map. Please, if you need help, send e-mail to the list at icculus.org. :)

Whoa ! Cool, thanks Vincent. Been too busy in the last year to get to quake at all. Last time I tried kept getting strange crashes.

Hi

I am trying to setup quake3 on solaris x86.
I do not have a copy of the pak0.pk3 data dir. Can you let me know where to get it from?

Thanks

The pak files are either the demo ones available via the data packages at http://ioquake3.org/get-it . Or the full games ones which you need to purchase unless you have the game already.
