You cannot separate business strategy and technology. Strategy sets the destination and technology provides the wheels to get there—and even allows for some off-road options never before possible.
As CFOs increasingly become strategic navigators for their organizations, they need to have a broader and deeper understanding of technology and its potential. While more than two-thirds of CFOs and senior financial leaders plan to increase their investment in digital transformation in the coming year, according to a survey conducted by Grant Thornton and CFO Research in 2018, those investments won’t get the company far if the technology crashes head-on with the realities of their company’s legacy environment.
So what advice would IT pros—the people with the most intimate knowledge of their company’s infrastructure—give to their CFO to help ensure that these strategic initiatives succeed?
