Apple Software Does it Again
By Josh Simons on Apr 02, 2008
Someone recently asked on Sun's internal Mac mailing list for advice on how to merge two PDF files together. Many suggestions were offered, all of which involved using some third-party free or for-fee utility to do the job.
Finally, someone mentioned that if you open both PDF files with Preview and turn on the thumbnail view, you can simply drag the pages from one file into the other and then save the merged file to disk. A neat solution that is also far more general than a simple merge utility.
Yet another instance where Apple software surprises and delights me...and helps me remain patient, waiting for a fix, as my MacBook Pro continues to have wake-from-sleep problems (as of the recent, post-10.5.2 graphics update) that require me to power cycle my machine to reset it. I cringe every time I do it. Read more about the problem here.
