JDeveloper 11g Technology Preview 3 is Out - SOA and WebCenter Included

Shay Shmeltzer
Director of Product Management - Oracle

We have just published a new technology preview version of JDeveloper on OTN.

The key thing that is new in this preview is that it now includes the SOA and WebCenter bits, and you can use them to preview what is coming up next in the Oracle Development world.

On the Java side there are various new features that have been added and polished from the previous technology preview.

We also added a couple of new online tutorials on:

1. The graphic, map, gauge and other data visualization JSF components.

2. An updated coding editor beginner guide

3. A review of new features in ADF BC

Check them out on OTN:

    Hi Shay,
    I have tried tutorials:
    - Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces
    and
    - Developing Ajax-Based User Interfaces with JSF: An Introduction to ADF Faces Rich Client Components
but both of them give various errors and exceptions at some point and do not run properly.
Also the tutorials seem to be not updated for preview 3 (they contain some inaccuracies)
Can you point to a tutorial that actually works in preview 3?
    Thanks,
    Val

    hi shy,
    nice work done there
do you know if this ADF Rich client, works with facelets or not?

I don't think we tested with facelets so far. I would wonder what you are looking to do with facelets? most people use it for JSF templating - and we got this covered with native templating support in ADF Faces RC.

I do believe that these tutorial should work with TP3 - if you encounter and specific issues please let us know what they are on the JDeveloper 11 discussion forum on OTN.
Also there are several tutorials available from the help->cue cards inside JDeveloper 11 TP3 - also linked from the Welcome page inside JDeveloper.

    Hi Val,
Can you please post these specific JDeveloper 11 TP3 issues to the OTN Forums at the following location so that others can learn from the problems you're encountering:
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=381
Also, the details of what you're encountering is very helpful. For example where in the tutorial are you running into problems.
I'm also looking at this issue and will respond as soon as I've isolated any problems.
    Thanks,
    Dana
