How to gain thousands of developers for your IDE

Shay Shmeltzer
Director of Product Management - Oracle

I've been quite busy the past two weeks training new developers on the new JDeveloper and ADF. You might recognize the names of the companies I trained, they included: Siebel, Peoplesoft, Retek and Oracle. Oracle has been quite busy buying companies over the last year, and now we are starting to build the next version of our apps - Oracle Fusion - which will bring the good things from all these companies together.

And the tool and framework that we are using to build these giant app are - JDeveloper and ADF.

Most of these developers didn't use JDeveloper in the past - so I went over and gave a short overview of JDeveloper 10.13 and a little more information about the Oracle Application Development Framework. The reactions were very positive once they saw the type of productivity they get from our ADF Framework.

So you can expect several thousands of new developers from all these companies to start appearing in the JDeveloper community real soon.

And if you want to see what type of development experience we have with JDeveloper for Fusion - check out this new screencast.

JDeveloper and ADF is being used for 'Oracle Fusion ' development - thats great!
But how they do the 'Reports' using JDeveloper and ADF? As there is no BI/reporting tool in JDeveloper yet!
    What u say?

I think the plan is to use the XML Publisher for reporting.
