Get an ADF Developer Certification - Special Price Promotion

Shay Shmeltzer
Director of Product Management - Oracle

Update – March 2011 – the ADF Certification test is now production – information is here and Study guide is here.

Well it's not exactly a Black Friday sale, but in the next few weeks you can get official Oracle certification as an ADF Developer for a considerable discount.

We have started the beta run of the Oracle Application Development Framework Essentials exam. We believe there is going to be a lot of demand for this certification in the upcoming years as more and more IT shops develop their own ADF based applications and uptake the upcoming Fusion Applications from Oracle. Getting an official certification on your resume is probably a smart move for your career.

One note of caution - this is not a trivial exam - you should only apply if you actually have practical experience developing with ADF.

Anyway you can get the full details about the exam and the material you are expected to know here.

@ shay, the provided link to the exam details and required things to know seems to be broken. Although the Target link opens but no information is available there.
While @ it, what certification study guide can you recommend? I've been learning adf development by myself and with relevant exposure to java EE applications.

guest, in terms of preparing for the exam, I would recommend going through the various seminars in the ADF Insider series http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/adfinsider-093342.html
, Reading the Fusion Developer Guide, and actually trying to build an application to get some hands on experience.

We don't provide test samples - you can see the list of topics explained there, and the questions range from conceptual understanding of the architecture to practical how-to knowledge.

    Hi Shay,

I have 3+ experience in ADF as a developer. We are a team of 4 and looking forward to write the Certification exam. We am not sure how the questions will be, how critical I mean. Will they be logical or therotical or practical or ?? Can you pls help us in understanding the pattern. Any sample questions will defintely help.

    Thanks,

    Sandy

Sandy as I mentioned in earlier replies we don't give sample questions away, but in general the questions range all the way from theory level to practical level.

While you won't be asked to build something you might be asked about a piece of code.

I would say that I believe that any developer who has practical experience working with ADF and a decent understanding of things beyond the default wizard level should be able to pass the exam.

The ADF Study guide can also give you an idea of the areas you should be familiar with:

    Shay--

Is ADF technology is focused only towards Oracle EBusiness development, or is it viable to develop general web development too?

  • guest Monday, October 24, 2011

guest, ADF is meant for generic application development, as you can see from several customer case studies we posted here:

    Shay,

I have 4+ years working with ADF Faces and Toplink, but no real experience with ADF BC.

Since, from scanning over the study guide, BC seems to be a big part of the exam, should this be an area of concern for me when taking the exam?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

  • Shay Tuesday, January 10, 2012

    Daniel,

Indeed at this stage the exam is covering the complete set of ADF technologies which also include ADF BC.

It might be an interesting idea to do a version of the exam that focuses on JPA/EJB instead.
