Seven to Seven: The first 24 hours at Oracle OpenWorld 2017

Don’t Miss the Chance to Connect with Oracle Applications Users Group

Saturday, Sept. 30

7:00 p.m. – What’s on the agenda to kick off Oracle OpenWorld’s first day? Read Oracle’s blog post, New This Year: Expanded Sunday Programming with Customer Path to Cloud to find out.

7:30 p.m. – Now that you know what to expect, it is time to plan your day. Browse the OAUG Geographic (Geo) and Special Interest Group (SIG) meeting schedule to locate the sessions you want to attend.

9:00 p.m. – Time to prep for Sunday and get a good night’s sleep. Comfortable shoes and a stack of business cards should be at the top of your list of items to remember.

Sunday, Oct. 1

8:00 a.m. – Locate the best place for coffee and breakfast to start your day.

8:30 a.m. – Use hashtag #OOW17 and @OAUG1 for Twitter posts. Be ready to update your social networks throughout the first day of OpenWorld.

8:45 a.m. – Allow plenty of time to get to Moscone Center.

9:30 a.m. – The first sessions begin at 9:45 a.m. Make sure you arrive a little early to find a great seat and network with session attendees. Several regional meetings are taking place, and you might even meet someone from your city.

10:30 a.m. – Continue networking at the break. Swap business cards with at least three other attendees.

10:45 a.m. – If clouds are on your horizon, check out “Increase Your Cloud Expertise by Joining a Users’ Group.”

11:45 a.m. – Are you getting the most from your user group participation? Learn more about taking advantage of membership offerings at OAUG Membership: Build Your Network, Energize Your Career, Activate Your Success.

12:30 p.m. – Schedule a little down time. Check out the Yerba Buena Gardens for a quick lunch and a bit of fresh air.

1:30 p.m. – Come back from lunch refreshed and reenergized, and head to your next session of the day.

2:30 p.m. – Don’t miss out on the freebies! Stop by the OAUG table in the hallway to pick up a cool tchotchke and a copy of the new OAUG Insight magazine.

2:45 p.m. – Remember: networking, networking, networking. Find your new contacts on LinkedIn, and join the Oracle Applications Users Group LinkedIn group to stay connected.

3:45 p.m. – Don’t miss an opportunity to soak up every last minute of Sunday programming. Catch the last OAUG SIG meetings of the day.

4:30 p.m. – Bookmark oaug.org for quick access to educational and networking opportunities, videos, publications, events and more. Check out the posts on the OAUG Blog.

5:00 p.m. – Hear the latest from Oracle CTO and Executive Chairman Larry Ellison at the opening keynote.

7:00 p.m. – Jot down any last notes on what you learned from today’s sessions. Celebrate a successful first day of OpenWorld! Restock and reorganize your business cards to get ready for the Oracle Welcome Reception.
