Message Security in Web Server 7
By seemaa on Jun 05, 2006
Sun Java System Web Server 7 integrates JSR196 feature using which one can easily secure their SOAP messages to and from the Web Services applications deployed on the Web Server.
The Web Server 7 offers integrated support for the WS-Security standard in its container. This functionality is integrated such that web services security is enforced by the container of the Web Server on behalf of applications, and such that it can be applied to protect any web service application without requiring changes to the implementation of the application. The Web Server achieves this effect by providing facilities to bind SOAP layer message security providers and message protection policies to the container and to the applications deployed in the container.
Please see the message security sample bundled with Web Server 7 (sample will be under <webserver-install-dir>/samples/java/webapps/webservices/security directory ) for the exact syntax of the configuration files and the combinations of the server and client policies that are supported.
