Occasional Lecturer at INSA LYON
By Sylvain Duloutre on Feb 22, 2010
Last week, I gave a 3-hour lecture at INSA Lyon about Java Web Services. My presentation was split in 3 parts; First, Web Services in general (standard WS and RESTful), then an introduction to JavaEE. Last but not least, I've combined both to present how to develop Java Web Services with JAX-WS. This was quite intense, with lots of content and acronyms over a short period of time, but this was the goal Dr. Sylvie Servigne and Anne Tchounikine set to me for this session. Good interactions with the audience; Many interesting questions were raised.
I really like interacting with different types of audience. This is a great way to improve my communication skills, meet great people and have fun.
This was the first time I was on the Campus since the discontinuation of the Sun Campus Ambassador program I took care of during the last 2 years. Now, thanks to the success of that program, Sun technologies are well-known and some are used during hands-on and practical sessions. Many students asked questions about the future of Sun Opensource projects with Sun's acquisition by Oracle. Oracle awareness was limited to SQL databases with only a few students aware of Oracle ERP products, but the rest of the product offering was totally unknown. There might be some opportunities to fill in this gap in the future...
