New Tutorial: Intro to Python in the NetBeans IDE

This tutorial provides an introduction to using the NetBeans IDE with the Python programming language. Although not intended to teach the programming language, it demonstrates how features of the NetBeans can best benefit the Python programmer. Each section of the tutorial shows usages of Python and identifies features in the NetBeans IDE that can be used with Python projects.

Ted Leung, XML architect and author, Apache Software Foundation member, and longtime Python developer, as well as Frank Wierzbicki, lead implementer of the Jython project (Python on the JVM), recently became Sun employees. Here's why they made the move, in their words.

In an interview with Linux.com, Tim Bray attributes his survival in the industry to "Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. I've got the attention span of a mosquito. I get bored with things quickly, and I want to see what comes next." Recently, his advocacy "helped commit Sun to really open up their hardware to the [Python] project. And then we just a couple of weeks [later] hired two Python people."
