Mobility in Manufacturing: Points for Consideration

Clearly, we are living in a mobile world. At the 2015 Oracle Value Chain Summit last week, if you looked in any session room or in the hallways, you could see people on their mobile devices doing things like checking email, tweeting, taking pictures and arranging their schedules. During the sessions, there were some fascinating presentations and demos across all Value Chain solution areas on using mobile technology to perform critical business tasks such as managing and maintaining remote assets, reporting equipment issues and providing status reports on inventory.

During one of the Manufacturing solution area keynotes, Mobility in Manufacturing, LNS Research President and Principal Analyst Matthew Littlefield presented on industry trends. He closed out the session with a few recommendations that companies might want to consider as they develop their mobile strategies:

Closing Remarks on Oracle Value Chain Summit 2015

Wow, it’s hard to believe another Oracle Value Chain Summit has come and gone. What a whirlwind of a week! From Oracle’s Glenn Seninger’s Welcome on Monday afternoon to yesterday’s final track sessions, the San Jose Convention Center was thrumming with everything product and supply chain.  And it doesn't have to end here...

The entire Oracle team is thrilled and humbled by the outpouring of customer, sponsor, analyst, staff, and speaker support. We were delighted to see so many attendees this year, especially given the harsh weather conditions elsewhere making travel difficult. This community is clearly dedicated to forging new connections, sharing best practices, and exploring the future of value chain excellence.

Oracle’s CEO Mark Hurd perhaps said it best in his keynote on Tuesday morning: “I have incredible respect for people who actually run supply chains.” And for good reason. Supply chain leaders are at the forefront of...

Unique by Design: The Noble Energy Story

The Oracle Oil & Gas team recently released this video featuring Noble Energy of Houston, Texas. Noble Energy was the 2013 Winner of the Oracle Oil & Gas Industry Excellence Award. This transformational video details Noble Energy's use of Oracle products, which includes Oracle ALM and includes some of the following quotes:

On Sustainability and Maintenance: Oracle enables Noble Energy's "Integrated Development Plan. This is something that can create tremendous value. It really enables us to see cost efficiencies both on the drilling completion and facilities side and on the operating side too. What it does for our community and areas is that it reduces our footprint, reduces emissions, it takes trucks off the road. IDP is a master plan that enables sustainable, responsible growth with less equipment and fewer facilities."
On Project Management and BI: Oracle "makes these sorts of projects possible, to do them on-time, on-budget, or ahead of time or under budget. And without that analytical capability to bring it all together and manage it and redirect and shift, the probability of over-runs and delays and not meeting your objectives, in my experience, goes up.

Forward this video to your customer and prospects!
