Wow time flys! The devices we enjoy today area a great leap forward from what we first experienced.
The Epson Equity LT, a portable, battery-powered "full-featured laptop" designed to run "with the high performance of a desktop PC." With a "powerful NEC V30 microprocessor" and a 20MB internal hard disc option, the MS-DOS laptop also came loaded with GW-BASIC and Lap-Link data transfer software, 640KB RAM "with clock/calendar," and 5.25" external floppy disk drive ports.*
