Introducing Oracle Supply Chain Event Management
By Steve Tonas, Vice President, E-Business Suite Development, Oracle
It’s no secret that managing a supply chain is an incredibly complex and risky process. Global competition, increasing customer expectations and shifting business models are just a few of the factors that supply chain management professionals have to navigate as they seek to build and operate world class value-chains that can support profitable growth.
To help customers tackle these challenges, we have introduced Oracle Supply Chain Event Management for the Oracle E-Business Suite. Based on Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Supply Chain Event Management helps organizations manage complexity and risk by providing visibility into events across every link of the extended supply chain. And this doesn’t just include events within your organization. With its advanced analytics, the new solution can also correlate external events to help organizations stay on top of all activities that could impact the supply chain process.
Managing risk and complexity is obviously important, but what if we could also simplify processes? Well, with Oracle Supply Chain Event Management, that’s exactly what we are able to do. The new release includes preconfigured event tracking templates for order fulfillment and spare part orders, while also allowing customers to take advantage of built-in extensions for Oracle JDeveloper. The extensions enable customers to quickly and easily design, edit and generate an end-to-end event tracking application with situation detection and targeted alerts.
By simplifying processes and reducing supply chain risk and complexity, Oracle Supply Chain Event Management helps organizations increase customer satisfaction, reduce costs and improve collaboration. Customers are happier as they have real-time updates into their order status and ultimately receive less late shipments, while end-to-end visibility into supply chain events reduces costs by supporting faster decision making and real-time action. Effective collaboration through context-aware responses and notifications help make all this possible by ensuring appropriate action can be taken to avoid any escalations.
Of course this isn’t the only solution Oracle offers for supply chain executives. In fact, Oracle Supply Chain Event Management builds on the existing Oracle Supply Chain Management applications portfolio, which provides a comprehensive solution to power information-driven value chains.
