Why build Sales Cloud extension on Oracle PaaS?
By Niranjan Kumbi-Oracle on Jun 17, 2014
Oracle now offers a number of platform (PaaS) services that rightly supplement its cloud apps offerings. The offering comes at a time when many of our customers are looking beyond the extensibility options that are delivered as part of Apps framework a.k.a Apps Composer. On the contrary, customers looking to switch to cloud applications but concerned about losing power of extensions can now consider Oracle PaaS as a viable option going forward.

Fundamental aspect to note is that Oracle's PaaS solutions have their origin in the same technologies that form basis for Oracle's Apps cloud services. The services are built with industry leading, standard based java technologies. What does that mean to our customers?
a. Our customers can now build extensions or custom applications that look, behave, integrate and scale the same way as other Oracle App services
b. As our PaaS services are hosted and managed alongside other services such as Sales Cloud, they form natural extensions to our cloud apps in the context of identity federation, service discovery and integration, and data synchronization
c. The breadth of PaaS services offered present our customers with unique option to implement custom apps, integrations and solutions in the design pattern of their choice
In this blog series, we will touch upon both technical and non-technical aspects that are fundamental to building extensions to Sales Cloud service.
However, the principles discussed here are not limited to Sales Cloud extensions but can be employed to build extensions to any other Oracle apps service.
