Oracle last week announced its new SPARC S7 processor, designed to bring Oracle’s most powerful microprocessor innovations to smaller, scale-out workloads at commodity prices. Companies can tap the SPARC S7’s innovations in three ways: as a cloud service running in Oracle’s data center; as an engineered system that bundles hardware, software, and networking (SPARC MiniCluster S7-2); and as SPARC S7-based servers.
