NetBeans can refactor C/C++ code!

Guest Author

I sometimes get really surprised about what can be done with the tools - there is an experimental version of the plugin for C/C++ refactoring available on NetBeans plugin portal. The team also put up a little Wink demo you can watch here. They're looking for feedback so if you have feedback you can leave it in blog comments and I'll forward it to the development team.

    Hi Roumen.

    I think the link to the screencast has a spurious space in the end.

    Now this is genuinely useful.

    I could have used this functionality many, many times in the last few months.

    I've tried to install this plugin in NB6.0 Beta 2 but I get complaints about the CND version not being > 1.2 - the installed CND seems to be 1.0 - but I don't see any updates...

    Any suggestions as to where I might be going wrong?

    Hello, Darren,

    You should use version of NB after 6-Nov-2007.

    For instance, use version pointed from

    http://wiki.netbeans.org/wiki/view/CndRefactoring

    http://bits.netbeans.org/download/6.0/nightly/latest/

    http://bits.netbeans.org/download/6.0/nightly/2007-11-06_02-16-45/

    Btw, today/tomorrow we are waiting for RC1 where it should work as well.

    Hi Vladimir,

    Tried that - I'm now running RC1, and while I can now install the plugin, in a C file I don't see any option to refactor anything, even if I try to simply rename all occurances of a local variable in a function.

    Darren.
