Comments:

I found the EJB 3 integration interesting. However, I do find the JSF support lacking. Why can't it be something more like Matisse? I realise it's asking a lot, but I've seen something like that in Java Studio, a couple of years back when it was still called Rave, I believe. Or is that the reason? To keep something for the commercial version (which is fair enough, I suppose :))

Yes, it's in Java Studio Creator, code name Rave. As I said Sun is looking into ways how to integrate the individual tools together... but this takes time. Right now you can use the Java Studio Creator to create the JSF pages visually... it's not convenient, but it's an option that exists today.

Isn't Java Studio Creator a commercial product? I remember seeing it, maybe a year ago, at Sun HQ in Israel.. It looked pretty neat, resembling Visual Studio in a semi-upsetting way. :) I do hope things are integrated quickly enough. Sun has really great products, both in hardware and software, and could really use something like NetBeans to boost up the knowledge of these tools in the community.

It used to be a commercial product. Now it's for free - you can download it and play with it. But prepare good hardware :)

By the way, you're welcome to visit a project I'm trying to start with a friend of mine, it's all based around developing Java in NetBeans and discussions using NeatBeans Collaboration. Thought you might be interested: http://javakoans.crazyredpanda.com/

Looks interesting... I read one book about Zen, but didn't get any further. Keep me posted about the progress and if you have any successes with your students.

Well, Koans in Zen are a unrational paradoxical phrases used to help students of Zen be enlightened in Budhism. We "bent" the term a bit, using it because we try a non-traditional way of learning Java over the web.

Some questions for the next podcast

- I have read in some forums the name Netbeans.NEXT what is it? (code name for the next version after 5.0?)

- Is there going to be a seperate version of netbeans for EE5.0 development or will we be able to use the same NetBeans build (final release) to do EE5.0 development?

- Is Glassfish going to be bundled with the final version of NetBeans or will we still have Sun App Server8.1?

Daniel, you'll get these answered in the next podcast ;) If I have time, it will be out on Sunday.
