per: Aloha NB Theme - I made sure the syntax highlighting works for most of the 'out-of-the-box' file types. There are a few issues however... as you noted, the debugger blasts the screen with the red highlighting, CSS file syntax highlighting is a little buggy, javascript highlighting of variables doesn't look great... etc. etc. (diffing files doesn't look great out of the box but you can reconfigure that separately.) Tor Norbye links to the CSS bug ticket and you can see a few other people talking about these types of issues in the comments.

Overall, I've been really happy with the IDE for Java, C and Ruby/Rails projects and can live with a few syntax coloring issues here and there. Folks I work with now know which projects I've been working in as they all have 'nbproject' directories now. Thank you to the entire NB team for a great IDE option with a spectacular price!

P.S.
a personal THANK YOU to the jVi project for it's NB plugin... without which there would be h,j,k,l's and ':w' smattered all over my code.
