Community acceptance survey results published

The results of community acceptance survey have been published - and it is a GO.

93% of respondents agree that NetBeans 6.0 Release Candidate is stable enough to move into final release! (Issues marked by the remaining respondents are being evaluated by QA team).

More details including nice graphs are available on netbeans.org. Thanks to everyone who took the time to fill in the survey.

Comments:

Sorry, but who voted not actually used the IDE. The editor still slow (when not burst the heap space).

Editing a big XML is impossible. Browse in a big JSF file also.

I still reporting bugs, but it will be a big mistake to release this version without the many fixes it needs.

So did you fill in the survey yourself? I mean I heard more people complaining about NetBeans 6.0 release to me but only few developers vote "no go" in the survey.

I voted.
And still working to improve the IDE.
My fear is see an early release of the IDE and see that the efforts for the restructuring of the same were in vain. At least in the short term.

Thanks. The best way to provide feedback is to file bugs. If there's a lot of critical bugs we can't release.

To me, the performance is an issue...but not a show stopper as I think MOST people will be able to use the tool in the state it is in. To do serious development in large projects though, several performance problems (a couple of which I have written defects for) need to be addressed...but these can wait until 6.1 IMHO.

I think most also feel that the error tags need to be fixed, and Clearcase support added. All in all though, 6.0 is in pretty good shape and I use it over Eclipse where I can (when I don't have to worry about the performance issues or deal with Clearcase).
