    Lots of native speakers make the same mistake. I don't really know why, though. I'm not a pedant, but this one really bugs me :)

    I think it's because of the pronunciation. "Lose" could be pronounced like in "rose" given the "o". Pronouncing it similarly as "goose" isn't natural... but I'm not a native speaker to judge this ;-)
