Comments:

Sounds good, hopefully they'll address the issue of after support. As a newbie to oracle 10 / 11g, having dabbled with sql in its earlier days which is an all together a tertiary experience in comparison. There is next to nill beta testing utilities / sandbox applications available which may prove a greater help to users wanting to hit the ground running from day one, especially for those on the level of novice to intermediate - wishing to meet requirements of installation and configuration for XML-SAX, PL/SQL, JAVA, JSP, DOM, XSQL, RPC and SOAP, OCI & C++ plus many other variants who's detailing is proving a task in itself.

Obiora, rest assured that their is extensive beta testing of OBIEE going on in the field with select customers and partners. As for setting up your own environment, you should look at some of the virtual machine options that are available, and at the Oracle VM itself.
