Java EE@Chicago JUG

Guest Author

On July 16th, I spoke at the Chicago JUG. Heather VanCura of the JCP helped arrange the talk. I did my Java EE 7 talk (our flagship talk this year) - slides posted below. Now that Java EE 7 is out, I'm trying to do a few more visits to reasonably local JUGs to my home office in Philly (I am speaking in Pittsburgh, Columbus and Cleveland in August).

The talk went very well -- over 75 people attended by my count and the RSVP was even higher than that. I was very happy to share the stage with Simon Maple of ZeroTurnaround (speaking on class loaders/JRebel of course). I gave away a few GlassFish T-shirts, laptop stickers and other goodies. I'm going to try to hit Chicago again when I'm flying cross country.

Hi Reza, I never know how those local JUGs work (do I need a membership for those groups? do I need to pay anything? ....) but I want to hear and "see" your talk (if it's free ;) ). However Pittsburg, Columbus and Cleveland are unreachable for me. Philly is ok because I live in Bridgewater, NJ.

It varies a bit, but most JUGs in our area (I live in Morrisville, PA) are actually totally free. The closest JUG to you is actually the Princeton JUG: http://www.meetup.com/NJFlex/ led by Java veteran Yakov Fain. I'll reach out to Yakov to schedule something and report back to you here (it might take a bit of time). That being said, I really should schedule something for the Philly JUG too since technically it's my home turf...

    Hope this helps :-).
