Camino Vista fire, too close for comfort!
By relling on Aug 06, 2004
Today's excitement is a brush fire. At approximately 10:30 this morning a brush fire started across the highway from the ranch, behind a hill. By 12:30 it looked like the crews had pretty much gotten the better of it. But I just noticed that it has jumped the fire line and is spreading up the ridge.
The picture above is the smoke behind the hill. The small speck in the middle is a fire-fighting helicopter preparing for a water drop. The hill is approximately 1/4 mile from the ranch.
There were 3 helicopters and 2 bombers working the blaze supporting a ground crew. For the second flare-up they added another helicopter and 2 more bombers. The officials have named this the Camino Incident. I'll post more later... I'm a little busy right now making sure we're prepared for the worst...
