Washington State has announced a new Paid Family Leave and Paid Medical Leave program. Employers with employees in Washington will be required to collect and remit premiums for the program on wages paid on or after January 1, 2019. The appropriate modifications to the system to meet these requirements are targeted for delivery in Tax Update 18-E.
After applying the product modifications scheduled for delivery in Tax Update 18-E, customers will be responsible for updating the FLI Status and MLI Status fields on the employee's STATE_TAX_DATA from “Not Applicable” to the correct status for each Washington employee. Customers with large numbers of employees in Washington can write a SQL statement to update the values for these two fields. No conversion scripts will be provided in Tax Update 18-E.
