The Government is modernizing New Zealand’s tax system to make it simple and improve the administration of PAYE. A new Tax Bill was introduced by the Ministry during April 2017 on Payday Reporting requirement. However, this legislation is yet to receive Royal Assent.
The proposed process will be digital for employers. The interactions are in the form of XML requests from the user to IR and vice versa. As part of this exercise, Inland Revenue has proposed that employers would no longer be required to file an employer monthly schedule EMS, instead they would file PAYE information on a payday basis as of April 2019.
