Statutory Minimum Wage Rate and Paternity Leave
The Chief Executive in Council has adopted the recommendation of the Minimum Wage Commission of Hong Kong to raise the Statutory Minimum Wage rate (SMW) to $37.5 per hour an increase of $3. Subject to the approval of the Legislative Council, the revised SMW rate will take effect from 1 May 2019.
Besides the above, entitlement of Statutory Paternity Leave has been increased to 5 days from 3 for a child born on or after 18th of January 2019 provided the other requirements of law are fulfilled.
