Bring out your dead.... bring out your dead.....

Since Halloween is tomorrow, I'll steal a line from the Monty Python movie, "Monty Python and The Holy Grail" to cover one of the new features recently added to Project Kenai.

Project Owners now have the ability to delete those pesty test projects, or projects that just never did make it off the ground.

If you're the project owner and there are no other project members (you can remove them if there are still some), you can go ahead and delete the project yourself.

Help keep Project Kenai active and vibrant by getting rid of those dead projects.

The Project Kenai team is working on other ways to manage the old and abandoned projects in the future, but this first step is a way that everyone can help out on their own.

So get to it, Bring Out Your Dead...... :-)

The Project Kenai Team

To help with the dead or abandoned projects ('test\*' projects), maybe you guys could add a sandbox area for people to test out, setting up a project for the first time, so that the site is not polluted with 'test\*' projects. After adding this you could message each 'test\*' project owner and give them 30-60 days to respond, if they are valid projects, or they will be deleted. With the sandbox idea I recommend keeping them for five days to allow people time to test the features of kenai. This way after 5 days the sandbox project that you created can be migrated to a real project or if not migrated it will be purged.

Will this also free up the "quota" of 5 projects for the owner ?;-)

Yes, every project deleted will give you back one on your count. If you find that you really need more then 5 projects, just drop us a note at kenai-admin<at>sun.com and let us know what your plans are. We are willing to work with you on project needs. Not a problem at all.

This is why I am migrating to kenai from sourceforge. Great idea.
