Over the past few years, as lead for the UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) Applications Community, I’ve seen more and more Oracle Applications customers interested in exploring the adoption of Oracle Fusion Applications alongside their existing investment in a “co-existence” fashion. The availability of Oracle Fusion Applications being delivered on a software as a service (SaaS) deployment model has made this option even more appealing.
For companies looking to leverage the power of Oracle Fusion Applications while gaining flexibility and ease of management, 2014 could be an important year.”
Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management (HCM) was the biggest Oracle Fusion Applications through SaaS adoption in 2013. Customers globally selected and deployed Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Service, contributing to rapid adoption of the solution in the Oracle Cloud. Among the companies that chose Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Service were Standard Life, Brightcove, Elizabeth Arden and Travelzoo. Oracle HCM Cloud Service offers the advantages customers expect from SaaS without the limitations of niche solutions. It delivers the capabilities of Oracle Fusion Applications in a simple subscription pricing model, with no hardware to buy and no software to support.
Providing additional benefits to Oracle customers, Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) systems implementation partners (SIs) around the world have developed rapid implementation offerings for Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Service as well as other Oracle Fusion offerings. These offerings can simplify and accelerate the adoption of Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Service with predictable costs and reliable timeframes. Customers are quickly realizing the value of Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Service through these rapid implementation offerings in a SaaS model, whether they elect to use individual applications coexisting with their existing Oracle’s PeopleSoft, Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle’s JD Edwards human resources applications, or to adopt the full capabilities of the Oracle Fusion HCM Cloud Service suite.
The SaaS deployment model will not replace the on-premises model, because there are organizations that will want to have all of their technology controlled on-site. But for companies looking to leverage the power of Oracle Fusion Applications while gaining flexibility and ease of management, 2014 could be an important year.
