Some customers in Delta Airlines’ loyalty program can use their fingerprints to board, while JetBlue is rolling out facial recognition technology. And at Dubai International Airport, visitors will soon walk through a virtual aquarium where 80 facial recognition and iris scanning cameras will scrutinize their faces as they gaze at fish swimming by. Welcome to the future, says Philip Baum, editor in chief of Aviation Security International magazine. “Going forward, we will have technology that resembles scenes from the movie Total Recall, where people are totally oblivious to the fact that they are being screened because the technology is actually built into the airport itself,” he says.
