Get More Functionality with PeopleSoft 9.1 Feature Packs

Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 applications represent a powerful and complete release—which more and more customers around the world are experiencing. As part of Oracle’s commitment to continual product enhancement, customers can take advantage of PeopleSoft 9.1 Feature Packs to easily add robust new capabilities to PeopleSoft 9.1. Feature Packs are planned to be delivered annually and are available to all PeopleSoft 9.1 customers as part of regular maintenance updates. “The adoption of PeopleSoft 9.1 by customers has been phenomenal,” says Marc Weintraub, director for PeopleSoft development at Oracle. “Many customers are going live and increasing workforce productivity and lowering the total cost of ownership. It’s the enabler they need to achieve their business objectives.” To help address specific customer requests, the first planned PeopleSoft 9.1 Feature Pack includes company directory and organizational visualization capabilities as part of the PeopleSoft human capital management solution. Customers will be able to create and configure organization charts to their liking and easily access information as well as facilitate the execution of self-service transactions. “Organizational charts are a feature that all our customers want,” says Weintraub, “and with the Feature Pack, they don’t have to wait to upgrade to get it. Feature Packs clearly demonstrate that Oracle is continuing to invest in the PeopleSoft platform.”

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Fulfillment Management

Businesses that supply finished goods to customers sometimes discover that demand exceeds supply. It can be challenging to determine how best to fill customer sales orders under these circumstances. Oracle’s new JD Edwards EnterpriseOne fulfillment management module offers enhanced order management functionality targeted at improving order fill rates and service levels, while prioritizing customer demand and reducing penalty fees. An easy-to-use rule-setting process allows users to create customized priority rankings for customers. Now, users can easily identify their largest and most profitable customers and make sure that their sales orders are filled first. This helps establish and maintain excellent customer service. If limited quantities of a product are available, users can prioritize sales orders based on customer ranking and order information and assign inventory based on priority. The module makes it easier to reduce late orders by managing how inventory is filled and reducing back orders by more closely monitoring supply. Users can also stipulate service-level objectives into the order fulfillment process for a particular customer or group of customers. These flexible service levels can be assigned by supply location, product, or even product group, and they are easily modified. This new functionality allows users to save money by avoiding penalties when not meeting agreed-upon service-level agreements. The new fulfillment management module works with other JD Edwards EnterpriseOne products, including JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Sales Order Management and the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne supply chain execution solution.

Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management 2.0

A growing number of utility companies are implementing smart utility meters, but it can be challenging to manage the huge amounts of customer energy and water consumption data the meters gather. The new Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management 2.0 application, part of the Oracle Utilities smart meter platform, enables utilities to transform data into actionable intelligence, as well as improve service and control operating costs. Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management 2.0 also helps address common integration issues between meter data management systems and customer information systems by providing interoperability with the Oracle Utilities customer care and billing solutions. As a result, customer service representatives don’t need to jump between applications to access meter data to address customer issues. A centralized device portal makes it easy for all users across the organization to review current and historical usage, look for signs of tampering or theft, or view metering activity. Utilities can also leverage custom, legacy systems into Oracle’s simplified IT architecture, making it easier to move to time-of-use, intraday, or real-time pricing methods. Within the next 12 months, Oracle plans to add more applications in the Oracle Utilities smart meter platform, including Oracle Utilities business intelligence for meter data management, Oracle Utilities Smart Grid Gateway, and full support of communication to customers regarding usage and efficiency programs.
