The digital economy has reinvented the supply chain, an evolution that demands agile solutions to mobilize business processes. When executives at Aegion Corporation needed a mobile platform, they turned to DSI for a solution accelerator that would seamlessly integrate into the existing supply chain workflow.
“The ability to leverage our investment in our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system from Oracle’s JD Edwards EnterpriseOne solutions was a critical factor in our selection of DSI,” says Aegion Corporation Chief Information Officer Thys Lourens. “We wanted one centralized mobile platform to automate all of our field sales, field service, and PO approval needs.” With DSI’s Supply Chain Mobile Platform in place, Aegion Corporation leveraged its system of record into a system of innovation by providing mobile solutions that optimize the business process for employees.

“Our solutions have the ability to go where others cannot; we need our field technicians to have complete visibility and access to business processes from anywhere,” says Justin McFarland, senior director of Applications at Aegion Corporation.Multiple Needs, One Solution
DSI—the “Mobile Supply Chain Company”—provides companies with a platform to evolve their supply chains to address the needs of the digital economy. Backed by extensive supply chain and mobility expertise, DSI’s platform and solution accelerators integrate with enterprise software systems like Oracle E-Business Suite and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne to optimize every aspect of the supply chain.
With JD Edwards EnterpriseOne in place, leading snack provider Old Dutch Foods had an ideal system of record, yet struggled to innovate. By using DSI’s Supply Chain Mobile Platform, they optimized distribution, manufacturing, and route sales with one solution. DSI’s platform proved so effective, Old Dutch Foods extended its investment and used the platform to create an off-premise field mobile app to optimize direct store delivery operations. How a Mobile Platform Provides Flexibility
Eastern Propane, one of the largest propane gas retailers in the country, struggled with an unwieldy in-house application system that strained the company’s IT team. “With our old mobile application, making modifications required us to build something out in a way that we could only implement in stages,” says Mark Stone, vice president of Information Systems at Eastern Propane. “Not to mention we had to physically visit each handheld to promote the updates.”
After implementing DSI’s solution accelerator for field service, Eastern Propane’s IT team can easily build, deploy, and reconfigure applications as needed. “With DSI, we can push upgrades out to techs in the field—from one centralized location—with the touch of a button,” Stone says. This advertorial was originally published in the JD Edwards 2014 Special edition of Profit.
