Essbase Integration Services - Statement of Direction

The Essbase Integration Services product has reached its final stage.

Starting out as Arbor Integration Server (AIS) the product quickly became known as Hyperion Integration Server (HIS) after the Arbor/Hyperion merge in 1998.  The product was then also known as Essbase Integration Server (EIS), Analytic Integration Services (AIS) and finally as Essbase Integration Services (EIS).

EIS has mapped many a relational Database into Essbase and made seamless integration and drill through easy to achieve and maintain.

The Statement of Direction for the Essbase Integration Services has now been released:

Oracle Essbase Integration Services Statement of Direction
Doc ID 1921432.1

The details state that EIS is the final release of EIS and it will not be shipped from version on.

Oracle will continue to support Hyperion Essbase Integration Services in accordance with the  Lifetime Support Policy .

It does not come as a surprise that the evolution of Enterprise Performance Management System (EPM) required a new and more powerful system. It was now necessary to also tie in Planning and HFM databases, so a new technology emerged:

Essbase Studio - released in 11.1.1.x, it was soon announced to be the new strategic platform to use for RDBMS to Essbase integration.

Now that Essbase Studio has been on the market for some time and has been well adopted by a larger customer base, it is time to move from EIS to Studio within the next few releases.

As luck would have it, there is an import wizard in Essbase Studio that should make the import of older EIS models and metaoutlines easy.

Yet -  be aware that the way that Studio works is different than EIS, so it is recommended prior use to review the Essbase Studio User Guide.
