One typical type among these are questions of compatibility or certification.
With every release of a new OS, a new patch to an OS a new browser, a new Java version etc. users are worried, confused, irritated and most of all in need to find out:
- Does this new version of X work with my existing version Z?
- If we want to use the new version X of this program - what version does Z need to be to cater for that?
- Is X certified (supported) with Z?
- Where do I find information for the compatibility?
- Internet Explorer 10 compatibility
- Windows 2008 support
- Office 2013 compatibility
- Java 7 support
So let us start with the first
"Internet Explorer 10 compatibility"
EPM and IE 10
The answer if Enterprise Performance Management is compatible with MS Internet Explorer 10 can easily be found in KM Doc 1492671.1
So here is the plain answer as it currently stands:
"Microsoft Windows 8 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 are both planned for EPM 18.104.22.168.x.
Availability is currently planned for the end of CY 2013."
Make sure to check back on that note, as any future announcement like this is subject to change.
OBIEE and IE 10
For OBIEE the answer is given in the KM Doc 1567907.1 and reads:
"The cause of this issue [... as described in 1567907.1...] is due to the fact that Internet Explorer 10 is not currently certified or supported except for with OBIEE version 10.1.3.4.2" (<-updated see section below)
It also links out to the OBIEE certification documentation on OTN. The compatibility for OBIEE with various browsers can be found in the documentation there.
General Certification Information
Apart from the obvious way of opening the knowledge base and punching in your product name and the words "IE 10" and hitting enter, there is also a more sophisticated way of dealing with the above questions:
Check the certification tab in MOS.
In our case for the Internet Explorer question we get the following answers for the two products:
My boss pointed out that we did have an earlier blogpost about the IE 10 compatibility with OBIEE:
So for the version 10.1.3.4.2 (only!) we have to acknowledge that this version is indeed certified with IE 10.
Unfortunately that one is not yet listed in the compatibility tab in MOS but a KM Doc exists:
And while you are at it, you might as well bookmark this one, which lists the IE support/certification in a nice overview:
(We will make sure that KM Doc 1567907.1 gets corrected/updated and apologize for the confusion )
