OBIEE Version Name Change

With the Oracle Business Intelligences Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) Suite Bundle Patch released in October 2013 a change in the format of the version naming convention was introduced.

- The OBIEE bundle patches have moved to a calendar based numbering scheme -

Some details to assist in clarifying how this works:

OBIEE bundle patch version numbers contain five places, where the fifth place is used to denote the bundle patch version. This numbering will now reflect the release date in a ‘YYMMDD’ format.

For example: 11.1.1.7.131017 is the bundle patch for 17-Oct-2013.

This enables customers to easily determine the latest bundle patch by its version name.

The OBIEE Suite Bundle Patches are cumulative, with the content including all previous [11.1.1.7.x] bundle patches.

In the case of Suite Bundle Patch 11.1.1.7.131017, it includes all bug fixes released in the previous version 11.1.1.7.1.  This also means it can be installed on 11.1.1.7.1 and 11.1.1.7.0.  Full details are provided within the Readme note for each release.
