OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 certified with Oracle 12c

OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0 is now certified with Oracle 12c database.

Comments:

In the certification matriz there's a issue about use of Oracle OBIEE 11.1.1.7 with Oracle Database 12c.
Its about weblogic version.

The native wls is 10.3.5

Then you must setup obiee in a 10.3.6 oracle home..

am i right?

If ok i need to pay for a specific weblogic 10.3.6 license?

best

Hello guest,

We received the following response to this from Gerald Bellot (one of the Product Managers):

"The 10.3.5 or 10.3.6 versions of WLS EE can be used when performing the appropriate BI installation option (Software only install). The question about licensing should be addressed by the Sales team."

We hope this helps

The point here is about Oracle 12c connectivity with OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 repository (setup)..

WLS 10.3.5(bultin weblogic) version is enough?

From OBIEE 11.1.1.7 certification matrix:

"Datasource of Application Data
Target Database for Repository Creation Utility (RCU)"

Oracle DB 12.1.0.1+ certification is available only with WLS 10.3.6+/FMW 11.1.1.7+.

Hi Wasim,

according to above refernced System Requirements Spreadsheet, you won't be able to run this combonation with WLS 10.3.5:
"Oracle DB 12.1.0.1+ certification is available only
with WLS 10.3.6+/FMW 11.1.1.7+."

Thanks and Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for the quick update.

Does it mean that we will need to upgrade our WLS to 10.3.6+ before we move on Oracle 12C database.

And also do let us know about the OBIEE repository migrations( DEV_BIPLATOFORM and DEV_MDS)from 11g to 12 c. will there be any discrepancy regarding the same.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Wasim

Hi Wasim,

yes, if you want to upgrade the database to 12c, you will have to upgrade WLS to 10.3.6+ as well.
I don't really fully understand your question about repository migration, though generally the various informations should be in the documentation.
"Blog" is perhaps not the right place to discuss details anyway - maybe you could perhaps raise a thread in the OBIEE community, if documentation doesn't help:

Thanks and Regards,
Martin

Hi,

I am trying to run RCU setup but, I'm getting an error DEV_BIPLATOFORM and DEV_MDS failed. I'm using Oracle database 12c and OBIEE 11.1.1.7.0. After entering the information like HOST NAME,PORT and all, I am getting error (The database you are connecting to, is a more recent one than the supported version refer to the certification matrix for supported DB version).

I am stopped over there and unable to proceed further.

Request you to please let me know the solution.

Thank You!!!

Kailash,

RCU itself is Fusion Middleware, not OBIEE, so I can't talk for them - but wouldn't know of any issues if the other components are certified, too.
As in previous comments you can see, that DB 12c needs WLS 10.3.6+. Since you didn't mention it, I don't know if you have that installed. Neither should you be on plain 11.1.1.7.0 - latest patchset now is 11.1.1.7.150120
Depending on your progress then, you might perhaps open a thread in the communities or worst case file an SR.

Thanks and Regards,
Martin
