This document stands upon three pillars: Prevent, Resolve and Upgrade. Let's take a brief look at each of them :

Prevent : One of the top priorities of Proactive Support Services is to assist the customers to drive their business smoothly. Proactive Support gives guidance to improve health and availability of their business by acting in advance rather than reacting and working on incidents. The most effective methods are:

  1. Apply the latest patchsets
  2. Revise the current setup and configuration parameters and suggest necessary changes.

The Resolve area includes some of the most useful diagnostics tools (including RDA), and links to MOS Communities and the Information Centers.

It doesn’t matter whether you are migrating to a brand new version or upgrading to a patchset, the starting point would be to check the certification information first. There are also other documents guiding you through the process. The Patching and Maintenance and Install and Configure advisors are created just for this.
