What is the difference between Forms & Reports 11g R2 (11.1.2.2.0) and version 11.1.2.1? Is there a compelling reason for me to upgrade?

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan,

Patchsets are regularly released and include number of fixes to known bugs. It is not possible to predict who will hit which bug in the future. So as a proactive maintenance, I would recommend you to test and apply such patchsets during regular maintenance windows unless Oracle Support asks you to apply immediately to fix a particular bug. In such a case, you may need plan to apply the patchset before regular maintenance window based on urgency of the issue. This will reduce the risks in your environment.

Thanks,
-Bulent

Hi,

I'm planning to upgrade from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 (to be able to move to jre 1.8).

Is this upgrade suppose to be like a patch? Or do I have to compile all fmb, pll, rdf?

I try this upgrade in a testing environment and it seems I have to re-attach all my libraries to in my fmb though we always specified to remove path when we attach them initially.

Thank you for any advice.

An upgrade from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.2 is named a minor upgrade.

The best practices advises to regenerate the forms after upgrades when possible, but technically this is not a must.

The need to reattach libraries again, this should not happen. You can check the FORMS_PATH to see if the directory of your libraries is included.
