For many JDeveloper/ADF Service Requests(SR) Support needs to know something about your JDeveloper/ADF configuration and setup. A SR that needs a one-off patch will need the patch history to allow the Engineer to make sure the new patch will work with the existing patches. If the application is getting an error message, a log from the Weblogic Server will be needed.
A Remote Diagnostic Agent (RDA) run can supply this information plus more. The RDA profile is easy to setup and easy to run. See Note 314422.1 Remote Diagnostic Agent (RDA) - Getting Started for downloading the RDA and Note 1367700.1 for Running RDA for Oracle JDeveloper ADF 11g . The following is a run for setting up the RDA for the JDeveloper home and running against the Integrated Server:
Once the profile is setup for the JDeveloper Home the RDA can be run by just executing the rda.cmd command without any switches. The following is an RDA run against the JDeveloper Home:
There are JDeveloper/ADF SRs that do not need an RDA run such as, How To questions, software download questions, ADF Source Code Requests and many install questions but for those that do need the JDeveloper/ADF configuration the RDA can give the Support Engineer a complete picture of the configuration which could lead to a faster resolution. Don't wait to be asked, Surprise your Support Engineer and send RDA reports when you log a new SR.
