Oracle is excited to announce the availability of a new cloud infrastructure region in Zurich, Switzerland, in August 2019.
With this launch, we demonstrate our commitment to making our Generation 2 enterprise cloud services available in the major markets where Oracle customers operate.
Our latest Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) region has been built to meet the rigorous demands of Enterprise customers in Switzerland and the surrounding region who require the highest levels of performance, security and reliability and perfectly complements our existing London and Frankfurt regions.
Switzerland’s strengths such as neutrality, legal certainty, political stability and security are also valid in the technology sector. With our new regions, we seek to provide hyper-scale cloud infrastructure performance, functionality, and resiliency to companies and organizations while meeting data residency, security, and compliance needs.
Many of our Swiss-based customers are giants in the field of financial services and life sciences. Our new Swiss region will support their requirements for enterprise class cloud infrastructure so that they can continue to transform their businesses and achieve greater cost efficiencies, up-time and business agility.
On the subject of digital transformation, Dominic Greenwood, PhD, COO Group, Expersoft Systems commented;
“Our collaboration with Oracle is the perfect complement to our own software solutions and helps organizations across the region to accelerate their data-driven transformation. As trusted advisors in compliance and portfolio management software for banks, professional asset managers, family offices, insurance firms, and other financial service providers, we support our clients in running mission-critical, production workloads optimally.”
Oracle built Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to enable enterprises to maximize the number of mission-critical workloads that they can migrate to the cloud while continuing to maintain a strong security posture and reduce the overhead of building and operating data-centre infrastructure. With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, enterprise customers get the same control and transparency into their workloads as they have on-premises.
The significant investment Oracle has made in local data centre expansion will create economic development opportunities for customers and partners along with fostering the local technology ecosystem. In discussion regarding the launch or the Zurich OCI region, Martic Koller, CEO Misystems, commented;
“We work with extensive data to drive insights for our customers and support them in cleverly managing their marketing processes. We count on the wide-ranging suite of Cloud applications including Autonomous Database from the local data centre to offer our clients the best data management and cloud migration solution available.”
Alongside our existing Oracle Smart Innovation lab in Zurich, this region launch supports our commitment to innovation. In addition to offering the best possible environment to run Oracle application and database workloads like E-business suite and JD Edwards, all OCI regions provide developers a platform on which to build cloud native, serverless applications using our fully managed, multi-tenant Functions-as-a-service (FaaS) platform.
FaaS enables users to focus on writing code to meet their business needs without having to know about infrastructure concepts, while Oracle Functions ensures their app is highly-available, scalable, secure, and monitored. Oracle Functions is built on the open source Fn project. Fn Project is an open source, container native, serverless platform that can be run anywhere - any cloud or on-premises.
