We are happy to extend an opportunity to you to participate in our upcoming NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 community acceptance testing (NetCAT) Beta program. This 5-week program is scheduled to begin on mid-March 12, 2007.
If you have experienced the powerful capabilities of NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5, you are aware that it allows you to develop enterprise-grade applications right from service creation to service orchestration. OpenESB 2.0 Beta along with NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 builds on that and offers additional artifacts for service composition and assembly.
OpenESB 2.0 is the next generation integration platform built on interoperable, open standards such as Java Business Integration. JBI Runtime is now part of Glassfish V2 (Sun Java System Application Server 9.1). OpenESB leverages WSIT (Webservices interoperability technologies) webservices capabilities to interoperate with other (including Microsoft .net) webservices.
OpenESB 2.0 consists of the followingcomponents
Design Tool: NetBeans IDE 5.5.1 and Enterprise Pack 5.5.1
Runtime: Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 Preview
JBI Runtime and following service engines and binding components.
BPEL Service Engine – Implements BPEL 2.0
XSLT Service Engine – Offers XML tranformation
Java EE Service Engine – Enables cross functioning of JBI components and Java EE components
IEP Service Engine – Intelligent event processor SE collects and processes business events in the real time
HTTP Binding Component: Provides HTTP connectivity to the external systems. Supports many latest webservices standards. Leverages WSIT capabilities.
JMS Binding Component: Provides ability to connect any JMS based messaging system.
File Binding Component: Provides connectivity to File external system
SMTP Binding Component: Provides ability to send and receive email messages
JDBC Binding Component: Provides ability to connect to different databases
FTP Binding Component: Provides ability to do connect to FTP Server
MQ Binding Component: Provides ability to connect to Websphere MQ
The following is the list of new features in NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1:
Composite Application Service Assembly Editor. Connect endpoints of Service Units, add and remove connections between Service Units.
Graphical WSDL Editor. Create WSDL documents easily.
XSLT Editor. Visually edit transformations.
Binding Components. File, FTP, HTTP, JDBC, JMS, WebSphere MQ, and SMTP binding components.
Intelligent Event Processor. Collect and process business events in real time.
Web Services Interoperability Technologies (WSIT). Enable interoperability with .NET services.
The following existing features have been enhanced in NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1:
Identity-Enabled Java EE Services. Enable message-level security.
XML. Author and edit XML schema and XML instance documents.
BPEL. Visually author BPEL processes to orchestrate web services.
As always, when you install NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 Beta, the corresponding runtimes are also installed and configured. These runtimes include:

The NetCAT Program
Don't miss out on this unique chance to participate in the Beta testing of this product. It is important to stress that the NetCAT program is about quality acceptance and not about feature design.
Who Should Participate?
We are looking for community members who have previous experience with enterprise features and who have the availability to provide us with their feedback in a timely manner. All participants will be directly supported by the product team on the Open ESB and Enterprise Pack mailing list.
As a NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 NetCAT participant, you will have an opportunity to significantly influence the quality of the OpenESB 2.0 and NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 release.
For each participant committed to providing timely feedback during this program, your input will be evaluated at the end of the program to select the top contributor for an iPod Nano.
To sign up for the program, subscribe to the NetBeans Enterprise
Pack 5.5.1 NetCAT mailing list:
We look forward to having you participate in the upcoming NetBeans
Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 NetCAT program!
Should you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to contact your NetBeans Enterprise Pack 5.5.1 NetCAT Program Manager, Tammy Tennier.
