HP, A Thumper for your Phone Records?
By pmonday on Sep 14, 2006
Thumpers (a Sun Fire X4500 Server) would allow a nice combination for compute and storage for analysis of board member and journalist calling patterns. In fact, with 24 TB of storage, you could probably expand your phone record collection to the lawyers that you are working with to defend yourself against the inquiries going on...you could even collect the records of the AG's office in California. Heck, why not throw in the phone records of lots of employees too (oh, wait...I guess you already started this..., so just expand the program). Whatever your needs, you'll have the space and compute power to do all of the social networking analysis you need.
Its very possible that you will have a tight budget due to the lawyer fees. You could have Ms. Dunn create a video on how you'll make use of Thumper for your data analysis. A free Thumper would save you lots of money and I bet she could make a kick-butt video, I've seen her in lots of stories over the week and she carries her authority well. Gives me the heebie jeebies just writing this knowing I may be pre-texted...
HP could also leverage one of our kick-butt enterprise tape drives that are eating up market share from others. This would help archive the phone records and back them up so they don't have to rehire a firm to do more pretexting of data they already obtained!
Oh, and if Ms. Dunn is looking for a position...I suspect she could find a job somewhere in our government. This stuff went on at HP quite a while without detection whereas our government got nipped right away. Ms. Dunn could probably consult on how to pretext without leaving a paper trail. Probably involves George Bush visiting a small private firm with dark sunglasses and a suitcase with 12,000,000 or so social security numbers (minus the HP employee numbers of course).
Well, hope that helped. Gotta go.
