I have the distinct pleasure and opportunity to get to speak with a lot of different customers on a lot of different topics when it comes to PeopleSoft. One of my favorite topics to talk about is PeopleSoft Profile Management. You ask why? Because it is an area of the application that so many people are scared of. They are scared because they don't understand it or it is intimidating to them because of its sheer size and magnitude.
Yes, profile management is big, but it holds so much potential if it is implemented with thoughtfulness, and with the end desire in mind. Over the next several weeks I want to take a more in-depth look at profile management. I want to talk about how to use it and how it should be used. I want you to think about ways that profile management can make your life easier in the long run. In this blog, I want to touch on a new enhancement that will be coming shortly, the re-engineered profile search/match/compare. You may find it odd that I want to start this series by talking about such a feature, but in reality, it is the perfect place to start.
Understanding what you want to get out of profile management is really the key to knowing how to setup profile management. If your end goal is to be able to do profile matches and compares, then you need to setup the profile to be able to do the profile compare. Let us look at some of the things that will be coming out with profile search/ match/compare.
The ability to look at employees and jobs in a side by side easy comparison. As seen in the snapshot below one of the greatest things about the new search match compare is the ability to select items to compare and have a modern visual of that comparison.
Another thing that makes the new profile search match compare so compelling is the ability to perform searches based on boolean logic. In the past, all of your search criteria was treated as an "and". Now you have the ability to mix and match search criteria with a selection of and statements and or statements.
PeopleSoft Profile Management can make it easy to find the right employee for the right role at the right time in your organization. All it takes is a little bit of foresight to make sure that jobs and people are setup with the correct attributes to be able to perform a compelling search, make the right match, and ultimately select the right job or employee by comparing the qualifications.
