Oracle’s strong commitment to invest in and support PeopleSoft has been unwavering for several years. With the January 2016 update to the Oracle Lifetime Support Document Oracle clearly illustrates its commitment to support PeopleSoft HCM and Financials (FMS/ESA/SCM) 9.2 “through at least” December 2027.
The updated Oracle Lifetime Support Document on page 9 (shown below) clearly documents support for PeopleSoft HCM and Financials (FMS/ESA/SCM) 9.2 applications extended through 2027. At this time that support is in the form of Oracle Premier Support through 2024 with the additional Oracle Extended Support through 2027. What is included in each of these robust levels of support is provided on the Oracle Lifetime Support Policies webpage.
While Oracle has previously stated support for PeopleSoft HCM and Financials (FMS/ESA/SCM) applications “through at least” December 2027, these updates to the Oracle Lifetime Support Document reflect recent changes in PeopleSoft. Changes to support timelines were driven by Oracle’s Continuous Delivery model for PeopleSoft and the advent of PeopleSoft Selective Adoption. Under Oracle’s Continuous Delivery model, PeopleSoft HCM and Financials (FMS/ESA/SCM) 9.2 applications receive new functionality and enhancements via periodic updates (PeopleSoft Update Images). The result is upgrades to a new release are not required to gain access to new features and Oracle can continue to invest in the existing 9.2 PeopleSoft release.
Oracle also understands that as time passes and the above dates approach, customers continuing to use PeopleSoft applications will need a better understanding of their support timeline horizons. Recent changes to the Oracle Lifetime Support Document also clarify Oracle’s policy for updating support dates due to Oracle’s Continuous Delivery model. Support dates are evaluated for update annually by Oracle’s PeopleSoft team. Updates to support dates would be extensions. So in the future it is possible that the December 2027 date will be extended by additional years. Support for PeopleSoft applications will be provided through at least the dates listed in the Oracle Lifetime Support Document.
