If you are plugged into the PeopleSoft social media channels like our Facebook page, Twitter feed, and Linkedin development group or if you tuned into the Quest Users Group PeopleSoft Townhall featuring Paco Aubrejuan (Oracle’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of PeopleSoft Development), you likely heard us talking about “PeopleSoft Selective Adoption.” Maybe you are wondering what exactly that is; that’s where I come in. For some time now the PeopleSoft product team has been talking about how, starting with PeopleSoft 9.2, we are delivering updates on a continuous basis with new capabilities planned for delivery 2 – 3 times a year. But it’s not about us and what we are doing; it is about you – the customer. “PeopleSoft Selective Adoption” is the terminology we are using to convey what this new age of PeopleSoft delivery means to our customers. As a PeopleSoft customer on PeopleSoft 9.2, “PeopleSoft Selective Adoption” means:
- You get new capabilities without the need to upgrade ever again.
- You take only the changes you want, when you want.
- You don’t need to be current on maintenance to take changes.
Your need to avoid costly and disruptive upgrades in the future and your desire to selectively adopt our continued PeopleSoft innovations – on your terms, drove us to this new model. This is possible due to new tools including PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) and new processes we have put in place. To truly maximize the benefits of “PeopleSoft Selective Adoption” your organization will need to change. Change how the line of business and IT work together to prioritize business needs, how it looks at maintenance planning, and how it executes the delivery of new PeopleSoft functionality. The PeopleSoft team has begun working with our customers to capture best practices, lessons learned, and guidance on how to best take advantage of “PeopleSoft Selective Adoption” and has published a white paper on this topic.
