Alliance 2016 - A Huge Success for PeopleSoft Customers

Last week, more than 4,000 Higher Education and Public Sector customers converged in Seattle, Washington for Alliance 2016 -- one of the largest annual user group conferences for PeopleSoft.  When you consider the high level of attendance, excitement, and engagement with our customers, the conference was a huge success.  Alliance was packed with thought provoking presentations, product demonstrations, and more than 440 sessions for customers to learn about PeopleSoft success stories on 9.2 including, deploying Fluid self-service, adopting new features, and engaging with our team to drive the continued investment and innovation in the products.

The PeopleSoft HCM Product team kicked things off with the HCM Roadmap session where we learned that more than 60% of the customers in attendance were already live on 9.2, with another 25% currently working on their upgrades.  This underscores the value of the PeopleSoft continuous delivery model, where customers can now expect that every feature shown in our product demos are available to deploy from the latest delivered image or an upcoming image.  Many customers took the opportunity to tell us that they have leveraged continuous delivery for their Fluid self-service rollout, newly deployed WorkCenters, adopting some of the latest HCM features, or for mandatory compliance, security and tax updates.

A few noteworthy conference highlights include:

   •A packed house for the Recruiting Solutions update, with many stories of successful 9.2 upgrades and implementations, and lots of excitement for the upcoming Fluid Candidate Gateway.

  •A fun and informative update on core Human Resources functionality, which included customer success insights from Sonoma State University and a look the very latest functionality, including enhancements to Guided Self Service 

  •Rich discussions around how customers are rolling out and using the Payroll and Time & Labor WorkCenters

  •Dozens of presentations on topics like Analytics, Position Management, Total Rewards, and many others presented by the PeopleSoft HCM team, partners, and customers

  •Many deep dive discussions in Meet the Experts, Birds of a Feather sessions, one on one meetings, with many new customers joining Focus Groups on their favorite features

  •Strong interest for planning to deploy PeopleSoft Time & Labor and Absence Management

  •Strategic conversations with partners from around the globe who echoed the momentum with PeopleSoft 9.2, Fluid, Selective Adoption, and PeopleSoft on Oracle Cloud

We took the opportunity at Alliance to formally roll out the PeopleSoft Community Ideas page.  With the Ideas page, customers now have a new and improved way of submitting new product ideas and enhancements with the PeopleSoft Product team, where each idea can be reviewed and voted on by all customers from all industries.  The PeopleSoft product team will monitor the results of the voting for each idea posted for consideration on the overall HCM roadmap.  To start using the Ideas page today, log on to My Oracle Support Communities and search for the Doc ID #2048019.1 for additional details.

As our team reflects on the conference, the most resounding take-away was the incredibly strong momentum customers are experiencing with HCM 9.2.  There were many stories of successful upgrades, implementations, and rollout of new features and functions.  It was an energizing few days and a great way to kick off the 2016 HCM conference season. PeopleSoft @ Alliance 14

The Higher Education User Group (HEUG) Alliance 14 conference took place in Las Vegas, NV last month and was a roaring success. Over 4,250 attendees participated in the event which is focused on Higher Education and Public Sector institutions using Oracle applications and technology. The vast majority of attendees at the event are PeopleSoft applications customers.  The event kicked off with some major announcements from Oracle about its continued and committed investment in the Higher Education industry.  These announcements were:

  • Planned future release of a PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2
  • Development of a totally new, cloud-based student information system
  • Continued enhancement of Oracle ERP Cloud solutions to address the industry specific requirements of Higher Education institutions

I had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with Mark Armstrong, Oracle's Vice President of Higher Eduction development to discuss these announcements in an exclusive PeopleSoft Talk interview.

In addition to these key announcements, the Alliance conference featured over 400 sessions were delivered by customers and partners with Oracle leading over 75 sessions focused on PeopleSoft. Jeff Robbins’ (Senior Director PeopleTools Strategy) “PeopleSoft General Session: Technology Update and Roadmap” session was the PeopleSoft highlight of the event with over 2,000 attendees. Other key Oracle led PeopleSoft sessions included:

  • What's New in PeopleSoft Human Capital Management 9.2 and Beyond by John Webb and Maria Ana Santiago
  • PeopleSoft Financials 9.2 Value & Roadmap: Do Much More with Less by Amira Morcos
  • PeopleSoft Supplier Lifecycle Management 9.2 and Beyond by Alexandra Dhillon
  • PeopleSoft Grants, Contracts, Projects 9.2 Value and Roadmap by Melanie Stapelman
  • PeopleSoft New User Experience and Mobile Applications by Maria Ana Santiago
  • Optimizing Maintenance Strategies Using PeopleSoft Update Manager by Mike Krajicek

The Alliance conference is always a great opportunity for the PeopleSoft team to interact with customers and listen to their feedback. This year the team met with dozens of customers and the overwhelming sentiment was the investments Oracle is making in PeopleSoft are the right ones and are adding value to their organizations. Customer’s expressed to the PeopleSoft team that what’s already been delivered in PeopleSoft 9.2 are “really good solutions”. One customer went as far to say, “The Activity Guide is the single biggest feature for them in their PeopleSoft 9.2 upgrade.” The newly redesigned user interface and marketplace integrations in PeopleSoft eProcurement 9.2 drew praise from customers. End users can intuitively requisition goods and seamlessly search marketplace items with supported integration to partner solutions.

Customer attendees at Alliance 14 also shared with the PeopleSoft team their efforts to expand the use of mobile solutions within PeopleSoft. There was a lot of discussion surrounding how to deliver PeopleSoft via a more modern, intuitive, and responsive user interface. Alliance 14 attendees look forward to when they can get the power of PeopleSoft into the hands of people on their campuses including Principal Investigators and Project Managers. In addition to mobility, Supplier Lifecycle Management (SLM) is an important focus area for the Higher Education and Public Sector customers who attend Alliance conferences as it is for many other PeopleSoft customers. Event attendees are happy with the PeopleSoft capabilities for self-service supplier onboarding already delivered in PeopleSoft 9.2. Customers shared with us their desire to see these capabilities expanded on in the future.

Legislative changes were also hot topics of discussion and feedback during the conference. These ranged from topics like DOMA, ACA, and OFCCP to the growing need for greater transparency in how institutions track and report funds. Attendees were pleased to see the PeopleSoft team led sessions addressing these topics. Furthermore customers were happy to see the PeopleSoft team’s heavy focus on increasing the flexibility of PeopleSoft applications allowing them to adapt their processes and systems. This focus ultimately means PeopleSoft customers can address the legislative changes more effectively and at a lower cost.

While the PeopleSoft team greatly appreciates feedback from our customers; customers at Alliance 14 conveyed their gratitude towards the PeopleSoft team for listening to their needs and ensuring their requirements were incorporated in to PeopleSoft applications. As an attendee from the University of Kansas said, “Meeting with the PeopleSoft team justifies coming to the conference.” This goes to show that participating in PeopleSoft user groups, whether they be HEUG, Quest, or OHUG (Oracle HCM Users Group) is a good way to be hear and influence the direction of PeopleSoft.

PeopleSoft Launches 9.2 to Over 4,000 Attendees at Alliance Conference

On Monday, PeopleSoft 9.2 was officially launched at the annual Alliance Conference in Indianapolis.   Over 4,000 customers and partners from the  Higher Education and Public Sector industries were on hand for the keynote announcement delivered by Paco Aubrejuan and Mark Armstrong.     Over 500 sessions were held from Sunday through Thursday by Oracle and the customer community.     Over 400 of these were customer and partner led.   A separate Executive Forum track included 125 customers.   Held annually, this is probably the most collaborative event in the enterprise space as customers openly share their case studies and approaches to solving business problems.  Over four days of sessions the PeopleSoft team provided deep dives and demonstrations of the new features in 9.2.    Prior to the conference, two days of Product Advisory Group meetings were held with members of the PeopleSoft Strategy team to discuss items under consideration for future releases.     At a session on PeopleSoft 9.2 HCM, the entire room raised their hands expressing an intent to upgrade.   Indianapolis was an appropriate venue to get the 9.2 engine started!
