As previously announced, OpenSearch is generally available with PeopleTools 8.60.07!

Starting with PeopleTools 8.60.07, OpenSearch Kit (OSK) DPK will be available in addition to ELK DPK. While patching to PeopleTools 8.60.07, customers can choose to use OSK DPK to switch over from Elasticsearch and Kibana to OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards. This will not require any reindexing or redeployment of your search indexes and analytics dashboards. There is no need to wait! Seamlessly migrate over to OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards and enjoy the benefits of a secure, high-quality, fully open-source search and analytics platform.

For customers on PeopleTools 8.59, OSK DPK availability is targeted for PeopleTools 8.59.21. Stay tuned… it is coming soon!

For additional information, including installation guides, updated documentation, FAQs, and more, review the Move to OpenSearch document on My Oracle Support – PeopleSoft Search and Insights Home Page (Doc ID 2205540.2).

ICYMI, check out our recent presentations where we provided an update on OpenSearch, showed a live demo of OpenSearch/OpenSearch Dashboards, and compared it with Elasticsearch and Kibana. You will find that everything works just the same within the context of PeopleSoft!

Here are a few support considerations. After the general availability date of OSK DPK in PeopleTools 8.60 and 8.59 patches, support will be available for one year or until the PeopleTools release is end of life, whichever is sooner.

  • During this period, we will continue to support the PeopleSoft technology that utilizes Elasticsearch and Kibana (ELK DPK, PeopleTools plug-ins, administration through Search Framework, etc.).
  • Elasticsearch 7.10.0 and Kibana 7.10.0 will be the last versions used in PeopleSoft applications. Consequently, fixes directly related to Elasticsearch or Kibana distribution (including any external library dependencies) beyond this version will not be available to PeopleSoft customers.
